Omaha police and firefighters prepare for the Pistols and Hoses competition.
OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) — In just over a month, lifeguards will be lacing up their skates for the annual “Hockey Pistol and Hose Challenge.”
On Sunday, March 19, local firefighters will take on the police at the Baxter Arena as opposing team players.
The family event raises money for the Emergency Response Fund.
According to the captains of both sides, the game will be lively this year.
“I like to think of myself as a trash talker. Some of these guys might support it, I probably do it too much, but for me it’s a lot. We use humor to relieve stress. and just to make things a lot easier in our lives, so I just try to keep it going, tweeting back and forth,” said Anthony Descichio, blue team captain, OPD officer.
“We have to take care of each other on the streets. So this is our time to beat each other up and have some fun,” said Erec Panneton, red team captain, OFD firefighter.
