Omaha man is accused of being combative with Omaha fire crews while responding to a house fire

OMAHA, Nebraska – A man was allegedly belligerent with fire crews during a house fire on Monday evening.

Monday at 6:57 p.m., according to Omaha Fire, crews were alerted to the 25th and Binney Street neighborhood for a house fire.

A neighbor reported seeing flames pouring from the vacant two-story house to the fire department.

When personnel arrived, they did observe fire coming from the rear of the residence, but they also discovered a man on the roof of the first floor near the flames.

According to Omaha Fire, the victim resisted rescue efforts and was pushing ladders off the roof.

As soon as the fire brigade was able to place the victim on the ladder, a fight ensued and he allegedly became belligerent with fire crews.

The victim was eventually transported to Nebraska Medical Center for observation.

It took over an hour for workers to bring the fire under control.

The fire caused around $44,100 in damages and completely destroyed the house.
