Omaha fans ready to cheer for the Chiefs at Super Bowl Sunday

OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) – From the outside, Pat and Mike are nearly 90 years old, and Maple in Omaha looks like a small corner bar or watering hole.

Inside it is a big country of leaders.

From signs all over the walls announcing it’s “Kingdom of the Chiefs” to a statuette of tight end star Travis Kelsey, there’s no question who they’re pulling on Super Sunday.

The dining crowd is set for game day.

“Sunday there will be a crazy atmosphere. There are great people here. Come out, hang out, Kansas City all the way,” said Bret Fritsch of Omaha.

“Wild, wild, they’ve been Kansas City fans for as long as I can remember in the ’70s,” added Dale Cutter.

At the airport, 6 News ran into Scott Geren, who was wearing a Kansas City Chiefs cap as he boarded a flight to Phoenix.

“I have a brother who lives there and my parents spend the winter in the snow, and that’s an important reason why I’m going: I don’t have to pay for room and board. They are very excited. We planned this before the Chiefs got there,” Guerin said.

He will get an argument about who will win from Omaha’s Brian Gesser. He won’t go to the game, but he’s flying out of Eppley and hoping his Philadelphia Eagles will fly high on Sunday.

“It’s tough being an Eagles fan here in Omaha, but I’m excited to see them win on Sunday,” Gesser said.

So the front line is drawn, even here in Omaha.
