Olivia Newton-John died after battling cancer, a symptom she “didn’t feel good about.”

The musician released numerous songs such as Let Me Be There (1973) and Magic (1980). However, in 1992, when Olivia released the video for the song “I Need Love”, she discovered that she had a tumor in her chest. Sharing her experience with the Daily Mail in June 2010, Olivia said: “In June 1992, I found a lump in my chest.”

Doing her best for her health, she told her doctor about it and underwent a physical examination.

“Subsequent mammography, ultrasound and needle biopsy were all negative,” Olivia said.

“But my instincts told me that everything was still wrong, so I had a lumpectomy. Then I found out it was cancer.”

Olivia immediately underwent a partial mastectomy and breast reconstruction, followed by a year of chemotherapy.

After Olivia first encountered cancer, she was in remission for 20 years.

She then quietly battled another battle with breast cancer in 2013, which she revealed on the Australian news show Sunday Night in 2018.

The performer told how in the same year, after a small traffic accident, she found a bump on her right shoulder.

In the shower, you can use the pads of your three middle fingers to press down on your chest and armpit to feel any lump, thickening, or hardened knot.

Alternatively, you can check your chest in front of a mirror by holding your arms high above your head.

“Look for any contour changes, any swelling or dimples in the skin, or changes in the nipples,” notes the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

“Then place your palms on your thighs and press hard to tighten your chest muscles…

“Look for any dimples, wrinkling, or changes, especially on one side.”

While early diagnosis may mean earlier treatment and a better prognosis, the cancer may keep coming back.

In 2017, Olivia was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that had spread to her back, reports Women’s Health.

On August 8, 2022, Olivia Newton-John passed away at the age of 73.
