Nighttime Omaha fire causes over $300,000 in damages

OMAHA, Neb. (Nebraska) – A fire in a shopping center caused a lot of damage during the night.

The Omaha Fire Department says crews were called at 2:11 a.m. to a fire at 14318 U Street, a beauty salon in a small strip mall.

When teams arrived they saw smoke billowing from the building. The fire was extinguished after a short time.

Everyone inside had already been evacuated when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported, but the fire caused major damage.

According to the Omaha Fire Department, the fire caused $75,000 in damage to the structure and another $250,000 to its contents.

Investigators say the crash was caused by an electrical event.
