New York dollar tree worker shot to death during attempted robbery, police say
A would-be thief shot and killed a worker at the Dollar Tree in Brooklyn just hours after a Manhattan tobacco shop employee was stabbed in the back during a possible robbery attempt, police said.
A male employee was shot once in the left leg at a store on Van Sinderen Avenue near New Lots Avenue in East New York around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, who fled after the shooting and was still at large on Thursday, was wearing camouflage clothing, police said.
The incident comes just hours after a Lower East Side smokehouse worker was shot and killed during a possible robbery attempt, authorities said.
Three armed suspects entered the Exotic Convenience at 79 Clinton Street around 6:40 p.m. when one of the men opened fire, wounding an employee in the lower back, police said.

The condition of this worker is also assessed as stable, no arrests were made.
