Nebraskans go holiday shopping earlier to get better deals

GRETNA, Nebraska — Early preparations have begun by retailers for the holiday season. Already in October, Nebraska Crossing retailers are seeing holiday shoppers, well in advance of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

While some consumers may still be deciding on a Halloween costume for this year, buyers we spoke with advised beginning the search for a good price sooner rather than later.

At Nebraska Crossing, we encountered an abundance of bargain hunters eager to take advantage of bargains on everything from handbags to shoes.

Danielle Baker, a shopper, stated, “We usually begin our holiday shopping quite early, but this year we’ve begun even earlier.”

Eric Hall, a shopper, stated, “I’m not bashful about asking for a discount at every cash register I visit.”

Dorothy Jackson, who was shopping for tennis shoes today, said, “I discovered a terrific deal at the Reebok store, found some on sale, and the shoes are so comfortable that I am thrilled.”

And shoppers should be enthusiastic about all types of sales.

Until October 8, Target’s “Deal Days” feature hundreds of thousands of discounted items and brands. Next week, on October 11-12, Amazon will begin its sale for Prime members, which will offer discounts on electronics, kitchenware, and toys. Beginning the following week, Walmart will provide discounts on select products.

Half of holiday consumers, according to a Bankrate survey, will begin their shopping before the end of October. Nicole McDonald, a blogger, writes that this decision will serve you well.

“It allows you to spread out your budget. If you haven’t already saved enough money for Christmas, taking a small portion in October, followed by smaller amounts in November and December, is easier to stomach than two weeks of excessive spending “McDonald said.

She reports that retailers have taken note of customers who have already begun their holiday shopping. Due to supply chain and shipping challenges last year, some shopped early out of concern that their gifts would not arrive on time. Now, retailers are catering to this demand.

“We are receiving these sales and fantastic offers earlier than before. You no longer have to wait for Black Friday. You can now discover these deals “McDonald said.

Seasons may fluctuate, but humans determine when they begin and stop.

“It seemed that each season begins earlier and earlier. I believe I seen Halloween merchandise in August that was astounding “McDonald stated.

Reebok and Under Armour are providing 50% off their footwear, while Coach and Kate Spade are offering 70% off their whole inventory.
