Nebraska State Fair organizers confirmed that increasing number of people visited the fair this year

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska – The final tally from the Nebraska State Fair has been compiled.

On Monday, its run of 11 days came to an end.

More than 287,000 attendees entered the event over the course of the weekend in Grand Island, according to the officials who oversaw the event. This represents a nearly 8% increase over the previous year’s attendance.

The increase, according to the fair’s organizers, can be attributed to the lack of precipitation, as there was just one big downpour during the course of the festival.

They also claim that the varied array of entertainment played a role in helping to drive attendance.

The new alcohol walk-around policy was another noteworthy development. It had more successful sales, and there were no incidents reported that were tied to alcohol.

The fair scheduled for the next year has already begun the planning process.
