Nebraska Department of Correctional Services that convicted murdered inmate died in prison
TECUMSEH, Nebraska – A prisoner who was incarcerated in a state institution has passed away.
On Thursday, Kevin Miller, who was 41 years old, passed away in Johnson County Hospital, as reported by the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Miller was serving a life term at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution for charges brought against him in Lancaster County for first-degree murder and the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony. The allegations were from an incident in which Miller shot and killed another man.
According to the Department of Correctional Services, Miller was being treated for a medical ailment at the time of his death, but the cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.
When an inmate dies while in the care of the Department of Correctional Services, the usual protocol calls for an inquiry into the death to be carried out by a grand jury. An investigation into the death will be carried out.
