‘My baby wouldn’t have survived’: Chrissy Teigen shared that she had to have an abortion to save her life
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend announced two years ago that they were expecting their third child, a son whom they intended to name Jack. The pair subsequently broke the news to their friends and family that the model had a miscarriage owing to problems during her pregnancy.
Teigen, who is currently expecting her second child, has made the decision to disclose additional information about the tragic event that occurred in her family. To be more specific, she disclosed that she did not go through a miscarriage, but rather that she was forced to get an abortion since there was no hope that the baby would survive.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, I had to make some very difficult and heartbreaking decisions. It became clear to us that he would not survive and that without any medical intervention, neither would I. Let’s call the procedure what it was – an abortion. An abortion that saved my life for a baby who had no chance of survival.”
And, to be honest, I didn’t actually realize this until a few months ago. I told the world I had a miscarriage, the world agreed with it, all the headlines in the media said it was a miscarriage. And I was very frustrated that I didn’t say what it was in the beginning. I felt stupid that it took me over a year to realize I actually had an abortion,” the 36-year-old star explained at the A Day of Unreasonable Conversation summit.
Teigen and Legend began dating in 2006 and married in 2013. The famous couple has two children – six-year-old Luna and four-year-old Miles.
