More clouds and a little cooler on Sunday
Mother Nature treated us to a very comfortable, sunny, 1950s pattern on Saturday. There will be some changes on Sunday, but even so, the forecast doesn’t look too bad.
A wave of high clouds will approach during Saturday night and will accompany us for Sunday. This could make skies mostly cloudy. Sometimes, we may see more of a filtered sun effect.
Winds during the morning will come from the southwest, but will transition from the north in the afternoon. This is due to a weak surface boundary that will be crossed. These northerly winds should keep temperatures slightly cooler on Sunday. We expect highs in the upper 40s in Lincoln, with even colder highs north.
The cloud cover on Sunday won’t last long. The sun returns on Monday and the highs could skyrocket into the mid to upper 50s. Unfortunately, the beautiful stretch of time will end by mid-week with the arrival of a couple of perturbations.
Rain looks like a decent possibility for eastern Nebraska on Valentine’s Day. While much of that activity appears to wind down late Tuesday, another surge will arrive Wednesday evening. With this system, we will likely be cold enough to see a winter mix and/or snow. This could persist through Thursday.
It’s still too far away to know the details, but these systems are something we’re keeping an eye on. For now, enjoy the good weather!
