Monday night fire in Omaha, the local police department continues with the investigation

OMAHA, Nebraska — 10/4/22 update: The Omaha Fire Department (OFD) continues to investigate the Monday night house fire at 25th and Binney.

OFD states in a press release that they arrived to the scene after a neighbor reported seeing flames coming from a vacant residence. First-arriving crews discovered the fire emanating from the rear of a single-family, two-story dwelling.

A casualty was discovered on the first-floor roof close to the flames, but resisted rescue by pushing ladders off the roof.

Once firemen were able to get him on the ladder, according to OFD, a struggle began and he became aggressive with fire crews.

The man was sent for observation to the hospital.

Monday night, the Omaha Fire Department is investigating a house fire at 25th and Binney.

According to OFD, smoke was noticed emanating from the second level of a house, and flames were emerging from the rear of the structure.

The firefighters heard a man yelling for assistance.

They were transported by firefighters from the second level to the roof. The subject was then removed from the rooftop.

The man was sent in critical condition to Nebraska Medicine.

The origin of the fire is being investigated.

The house also sustained substantial smoke and fire damage.
