Man, 79, arrested on child sex crime charges after savvy Whataburger workers took action

Police in Texarkana, Texas responded after fast food restaurant employees acted on the adage, “If you see something, say something.”

They are glad they did, and as a result, 79-year-old Michael Clark was charged with indecent behavior with a child and soliciting prostitution. KFVS-TV.

“We received a call to 911 from Whataburger employees on New Boston Road just before noon on Tuesday. They told us that an underage girl and an older man were eating together and something was wrong in this situation, ”the message says.

“It turns out the two barely knew each other,” the post read.

Police said the 13-year-old girl told them that Clark “offered her money in exchange for sexual favors that day and touched her inappropriately during a previous encounter weeks prior.”

“He picked up the girl in his truck as she was walking down the street shortly before they went to Whataburger that morning,” the report said.

After interviews with several parties, Clark was arrested.

The post said that he held in a bi-state prison with a $225,000 bond.

“This is another example of why it’s so important to speak up if you notice something that doesn’t feel right to you,” said Sean Won, a spokesman for the Texarkana Texas Police Department. Texarkana Gazette.

“We are grateful that in this case, the Whataburger employees followed their instincts and said something,” Vaughn said.

A poster bearing the name Ford LeDon noted on the Texarkana Police Facebook page that “they are BIG MEN after all. If you know that ADULTS are “dating” minors and you don’t interfere… YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!”

“Great job by whataburger staff! Thanks for speaking up!! wrote a poster with the name Lesley Pierce. “Thank you to the police officers who took this seriously. It’s so nice to know that there are still people who are speaking up and speaking out.”
