Madison Brooks rape suspect faces third sexual assault charge in Louisiana
A man accused of raping LSU student Madison Brooks and a 12-year-old girl has been charged with the third rape, the sexual assault of a woman he met at the same bar where Brooks hung out before he was later fatally hit by a car. .
According to The Advocate, 18-year-old Kyvon Washington allegedly attacked a female victim he and Carson Jones met in August 2022 in the parking lot of Reggie’s bar in East Baton Rouge.
The victim asked Jones, who was her previous acquaintance, if she could sleep over at his house because she was too drunk to drive, according to court documents cited by the publication.
The woman later had sex with Jones, who became aggressive, pinned her down and refused her demands to stop before Washington allegedly “joined the act” by groping her, according to the documents.
Washington and Jones were charged with rape in the first degree.

The victim showed investigators text messages from Washington in which he apologized for touching her, accusing Jones of reaching out to her.
A day after Washington was released on bail for Brook’s third-degree rape, he was charged with first-degree rape for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in May or June 2020. In this case, Washington was accused of rape. child about 30 minutes after she left her birthday party to go swimming at an apartment complex in Livingston County.
Washington attorney Ron Haley cited “several problems” with the latest indictment, including that the investigation began about five months after the incident.
“Firstly, as in the case of Livingston, the “additional” investigation was conducted on January 25, 23 or so. Second, the date of the incident on Mr. Washington’s warrant is different from that of his co-defendant,” he said in a statement to WAFB.

“Thirdly, the decision on his accomplice does not say anything about intoxication. It states that the victim had consensual sex with his co-defendant in the presence of Mr. Washington,” wrote Haley.
“Finally, the victim never accused Mr. Washington of sexual intercourse with her, so we are curious why he was accused of rape,” he added.
Haley also pointed to the moment the witness stepped forward and told investigators that she saw Washington enter the room with the 12-year-old girl.

“Mr. Washington and his mother cooperated with the investigation two years ago and law enforcement took no action,” he said last month.
“After reviewing the new witness statement that came out yesterday, we are concerned not only about the timing of this statement, but whether it meets the threshold of probable cause,” Hailey added.
Washington and a 17-year-old boy were charged with raping Brooks in the back of a car after a night of drinking at Reggie’s, while Everett Lee, 28, and Kaysen Carver, 18, were charged with third-degree rape. — meaning they witnessed the alleged attack but did not participate.

Brooks, who police said had a blood alcohol level of 0.319 percent, four times the legal driving limit, was thrown from his car and stumbled in the street and was fatally hit by another car, officials said.
None of the suspects is a student at Leningrad State University.
