Lincoln woman identified in fatal crash in Otoe County
LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska). Authorities have identified a woman who died in a two-vehicle collision on Section 2 Highway in Otoe County.
Rescuers were sent to the intersection of Highways 2 and 34 west of Palmyra at around 3:20 pm on Friday.
Jennifer Hughes, 37, of Lincoln, died at the scene, according to the Oto County Sheriff’s Office.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office said Hughes was not wearing a seat belt when she exited Route 2 eastbound from Route 34 south.
The report says her car was hit by a pickup truck heading west. The man driving the truck, also owned by Lincoln, was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected in the accident.
The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate with the Nebraska State Patrol.
