Lincoln Public Schools Hosts Faculty Interview Fair

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska) — Lincoln Public Schools held a faculty interview fair Friday in hopes of hiring for the 2023-2024 school year.

LPS recruiting director Eric Witt said this is the second interview fair they’ve been running this month. By the end of this month, they will have interviewed about 300 candidates.

The last fair was for internal employees or people the student taught at LPS. This was for candidates who were not yet affiliated with the LPS. Witt said it’s new, but he believes it creates a personal connection.

“Either they don’t study with us, or they teach in another school district, moving to our community. It gives them confidence that they know: “I have the opportunity to interview, I’m being considered for positions,” Witt said.

How the interview fair works: An interested person contacts the LPS, chooses a time slot, fills out an application, and then chooses whether they want to be interviewed in person or virtually. LPS then put them in touch with an administrator for an interview.

Witt said about 80 people were expected to attend the fair in person or virtually. The district is looking for a variety of educators such as teachers, school psychologists and speech therapists.
