Lincoln police investigate car thefts
LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska) – The Lincoln Police Department is investigating two auto thefts.
On Tuesday morning, around 6:30 a.m., officers were sent to the Victress Gym, near Cody Drive and Yankee Hill Road in south Lincoln, in connection with a reported theft from a vehicle.
LPD said the woman explained that she locked her van when she was at the gym for about an hour, and as she was about to leave, she noticed her car’s front passenger window was smashed and her purse was missing from the passenger seat.

Around 6:51 a.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to the residence on Mason Drive and Atlas Avenue on the north side of Lincoln with a report of a theft from a vehicle.
The LPD said officers who arrived spoke to a man who explained that his 6.5-caliber Grendel rifle, thermal sight, silencer, and 100 6.5-caliber Grendel rounds were seized from his 2019 Ram pickup truck at night.
Police said the victim claimed he was sure he locked his truck when he parked it. However, investigators said there were no signs of a break-in.
LPD wants to remind the community to hide valuables and lock doors.
