Lincoln man stole a truck on New Year’s Day, he was then followed by the owners and beaten, police

Lincoln, NE – Lincoln man was arrested and charged by the police for stealing a pickup truck on New Year’s Day in Lincoln, the local police department confirmed.

According to the incident report, the 27-year-old Scott Cross stole a truck and fled the scene, but he was followed and located by the truck owners.

The police confirmed officers responded near 1st Street and Oregon Trail, which is just north of Adams Street in West Lincoln on Jan. 1 around 6:15 p.m. following a 911 call in regards to a fight.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 46-year-old man and his 22-year-old stepson holding down the suspect who stole their truck.

The victims told police they saw their beige Chevy Silverado in a nearby lot and Cross exited the vehicle. The men followed Cross and tackled him. Police confirmed that was the stolen vehicle that belonged to the victims.

EMS crews responded at the scene and medically examined the suspect. After it was confirmed he was in stable condition with no serious injuries, he refused to enter the patrol car.

He was eventually arrested for theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
