Lincoln Flower Shop Prepares for Super Bowl: Valentine’s Day

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska) – Tiffany Anderson has owned the Flower House in the capital for seven years. It’s her 20th Valentine’s Day as a florist and she looks forward to it every year.

“In these couple of days, we will bring about 15,000 stems,” Anderson said.

Today, in fact, their Super Bowl.

“It gets really hectic; we are limiting orders on our website,” she said. “We are bringing in 5, 6, 7, 8 additional drivers as well as additional staff to assist us over these few days so that we can release this number,” Anderson said.

Preparation and planning for Valentine’s Day began in June.

“We are planning these months in advance to see what trends we are going to do in February,” Anderson said.

It’s a challenge that Anderson finds exciting.

“We’re going to start here kind of in a frenzy, a calm, pleasant frenzy,” Anderson said.

It’s more than just flowers. They see the relationship flourish. Anderson recalls how a gentleman came in to buy a bouquet.

“We talked about it, ‘He’s like, I’m on my first date,'” Anderson said.

And made a tradition.

“He came by from time to time, quite often, and bought her flowers,” Anderson said.

The couple got married two years later.

“Every month he sent something, he was just delighted,” Anderson said. “But I remember his first date, he was so nervous, and we talked about it right up to his wedding,” Anderson said.

From first dates to years of marriage and everything in between, Anderson estimates they’ll have about 350 bookings before Valentine’s Day.

“It’s so great, it’s a great community here, it’s amazing, we have an amazing group here,” she said. “It’s a team effort.”
