Lincoln East secures 1st team spot in districts

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska) — Class A District 2 men’s wrestling began Saturday at Lincoln East High School.

Several local schools participated all trying to stamp their ticket to the state.

In individual results, the Lincoln Southwest wrestlers had a strong showing racking up wins in three weight classes.

Host school Lincoln East has had seven wrestlers win their weight classes, including Leland Sindel at 106, Joshua Shaner at 126, and Axel Lyman at 220.

In team results, the Spartans took home first place, with Southwest finishing second while North Star and Pius X finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the district meet.

Other notable finishes include a 4th place from George Ivanov of Pius X in the 113 weight class, 3rd place for Lincoln Southwest’s Jacob Snow in 126, Lincoln Southwest’s Kash Bates finished 2nd in 132 and Lincoln’s Colton Hauschild North Star secured a third place finish in the 145 weight class.

State wrestling begins February 16.
