Lincoln Airpark neighborhood standoff results with one person arrested, police

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Monday afternoon, a guy was apprehended after a two-hour confrontation with police in the Airpark district of Lincoln.

At 3:22 p.m. on Monday, officers were summoned to a residence at NW 54th and West Superior Street. A caller stated that their 33-year-old neighbor, George Looschen III, was ranting and brandishing a weapon outside his apartment.

The neighbor fled the home and reported to authorities that they feared for their safety.

Officers noticed Looschen III in his backyard upon their arrival. Officers attempted to communicate with him through telephone, but he refused to cooperate. Due to the presence of firearms, the SWAT Team of the Lincoln Police Department was activated. Looschen III was taken into prison without further incident following approximately two hours of negotiations.

Officers seized a handgun with a caliber of.380, drug paraphernalia, and tablets believed to be MDMA. Looschen III was arrested for Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of a Harassment Protection Order.
