Hicks said the families of the victims do not want the case to go to trial.

“They don’t want to sit in the courtroom and listen to all the bloody details of what happened to their loved ones,” he said at a press conference after the verdict.

Anderson unleashed his horrific attacks in February 2021 — just weeks after his release from prison, when his 20-year drug-related sentence was commuted in response to an erroneous recommendation from the Oklahoma Board of Pardons and Parole.

According to authorities, he mortally wounded Blankenship after breaking into her home. He then removed her heart and took it with him to the Pai home.
