Last weekend’s fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash in Lexington results with man charged with motor vehicle homicide and willful reckless driving


LEXINGTON, Nebraska – A kid from central Nebraska faces charges following a deadly crash over the weekend.

Saturday morning around 5 a.m., Lexington Police responded to a complaint of a collision involving a car and a person near Adams and Oak Streets. Officers discovered Abdelaziz Suliman, age 59, deceased at the site.

Salvador Canales, 19, has been charged with vehicular murder and reckless driving in relation to the tragedy. A witness reportedly informed police that she was travelling south on Adams Street, a two-lane road, when a speeding pickup truck passed her. She stated that the truck struck a man who was walking, causing him to soar into the air.

According to court filings, detectives studied surveillance camera footage showing the truck passing the witness’s car in the northbound lane before striking Suliman.

Canales posted a $10,000 bond and is due in court on October 18 for a preliminary hearing.
