Las Vegas plane lands in Lincoln due to engine problems

LINCOLN, Nebraska (AP) — A United Airlines flight from Chicago to Las Vegas made an unscheduled stop in Nebraska on Saturday after the pilot reported engine problems.

Mark Grant, communications operator at Lincoln Airport, said 326 passengers and crew were on board the Boeing 777 when it took off from O’Hare International Airport.

After the plane’s engine failed about 70 miles west of Lincoln, the pilot turned around. Grant said the pilot landed the plane safely at Lincoln Airport at 11:41 a.m.

Passengers and crew were waiting for a replacement plane, which was due to arrive in the afternoon and take them to Las Vegas, Grant said.
