Knife wielding man injures woman, causes standoff with 5 children, Nebraska police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska) — Joseph Wetzel was arrested after a standoff Thursday morning involving five children, according to the Grand Island Police Department.
They say it all started just before 2 a.m. when he assaulted a woman in a home off West State Street and North Huston Avenue.
Police told us they knocked her down, hit her multiple times, and cut her with a 7-inch kitchen knife.
Wetzel is then accused of locking himself in a room with three of the children, threatening the lives of all five children and the woman.
He finally left home after the police gave him several orders and was arrested.
Wetzel is now facing a long list of charges including terrorist threats, intentional child abuse and possession of a deadly weapon.
