Judge orders no bail for York’s murder suspect
YORK, Neb. (Nebraska)-A county judge ordered a York murder suspect to be held without bond after prosecutors presented evidence that he had access to other firearms.
Bart Beutler, 47, is charged with the murder of his wife Stacie on January 30 in York. He had previously been held on a $3 million bond. But in a court filing the judge pointed to evidence that Beutler may have access to additional firearms, including one that was not serialized. Court records also indicated that Beutler was convicted of second-degree murder in Arizona.
Beutler withdrew from a probable cause hearing and his case was transferred to York County Court. In addition to the murder charge, Beutler is also charged with using a firearm to commit a felony and possessing a firearm by a prohibited person.
York Police arrested Beutler on Jan. 30 after he received a 911 call indicating that his wife Stacie had been killed multiple times.
Court records showed Beutler called dispatchers who received a 911 call from Bart Beutler during which he reported a “gunshot wound, I’m doing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.”
Upon arrival, police found 46-year-old Stacie Beutler unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Beutler will be arraigned in York County District Court on March 21. At arraignment hearings, the suspect usually pleads guilty or not guilty.
