Jennifer Lopez spoke about her biggest fear: I asked the doctor if I was going crazy
Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has revealed that in her late twenties she struggled with severe panic attacks due to exhaustion. She even felt physically paralyzed and slept only a few hours at night, VanityFair reports.
“It was a period of my life when I slept three to five hours a night. I was on set all day and all night in the studio, and on weekends I went on trips and shot music videos. I was in my late twenties and thought I was invincible. And then one day in the trailer on the set, everything piled up on me – work, stress, not enough sleep,” Lopez said.
The 52-year-old star admitted that at that moment she could not move. As she recounted, she was completely frozen, unable to see clearly, and the physical symptoms of fear began to intensify to such an extent that she became afraid.
“Now I know it was a panic attack. “I didn’t even know about that term then,” she said.
Since she didn’t know what was going on at the time, she began to question herself until her doctor advised her to change her lifestyle.
“My security came to the set, picked me up and took me to the doctor. When I got there I could at least speak again, but I was so terrified I thought I was losing my mind. I asked the doctor if I was going crazy, to which he replied that I should just sleep seven to nine hours a night, not consume too much caffeine and take more care of myself,” the singer recalls.
After that, she realized how serious the consequences of ignoring what the body and mind need to be healthy can be. And then her journey for the better began.
She then set herself the goal of living a healthy and balanced life, and as for her youthful appearance, she explained that good sleep is most responsible for that.
“Sometimes I wake up and look at my face and I’m like, ‘Wow!’ I just lost 10 years!”, said Lopez at the end.
