Israeli build drone capable of carrying sniper rifles to assist ground troops

An Israeli weapons maker has developed a robotic weapon that uses sniper rifles to shoot down static and moving targets in flight. The SMASH Dragon, designed by Israeli company Smart Shooter, can be mounted on various forms of unmanned aerial platforms, such as drones, and can hit targets while hovering over them.

A sniper rifle operated by a man on land can be mounted on the system. The weapon is very light and uses a unique stabilization concept, which allows it to accurately hit targets regardless of the speed at which the drone is moving, the company said in a press release.

The system has sophisticated computer vision capabilities and can work day and night. SMASH Dragon has successfully passed the shooting tests and is in an advanced stage of development, but is not yet operational, announced the company Smart Shooter.

The system will use Smash 2000 technology from the same company, which uses built-in algorithms to find and hit targets. The technology has so far been used to shoot down drones and incendiary balloons launched from the Gaza Strip.

Smart Shooter technology SMASH offers precise removal of threats on land, in the air and at sea, said Smart Shooter CEO Michael Moore.
