Iowa man, who was had been brandishing a weapon outside HACAP’s Inn Circle Housing in Cedar Rapids early Tuesday morning, shot to death by police

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Early on Tuesday morning, law enforcement in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, opened fire on a man who they believe was brandishing a weapon outside of HACAP’s Inn Circle Housing. As a result of the shooting, the victim passed away.

The police stated in a press release that they responded to a domestic incident that was taking place at 5560 6th Street SW.

According to the cops, they made an attempt to apprehend the man while he was brandishing a weapon.

According to reports, law enforcement officers opened fire on the individual, resulting in his death.

The Iowa State Medical Examiner will be doing the autopsy at the arranged time.

The investigation into the event is being conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

In line with established procedures, the concerned Cedar Rapids police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.

Due to the ongoing investigation by the DCI, neither the identity of the deceased individual nor the names of the policemen involved will be released.
