Inmate missing from Lincoln arrested by Omaha police

OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) — A missing person from a low-custodial correctional facility in Lincoln has been arrested and faces new charges.

Christopher Foster, 36, went missing from the Lincoln Correctional Center on February 8, 2023, according to the Nebraska Department of Corrections.

The Lincoln Community Correctional Center has a lower incarceration rate and allows inmates to be able to work, attend school, and attend religious services without direct supervision.

Foster allegedly removed his electronic monitor as he left the facility. Two days later, on February 10, he was arrested by the Omaha Police Department.

On February 10, Omaha police officers were called to the address for a “feel-good check.” When they arrived, they found Foster, and he allegedly told the officers that he had escaped from the correctional center. The woman also spoke to officers and allegedly said Foster believed they were in a relationship but were just friends. She claimed that Foster took her cell phone for several days and threatened to commit violent crimes against others if she ended their relationship.

Foster faces new charges, including terrorist threats. Foster appeared in Douglas County court Monday on the charges and received $75,000 bail.

Foster’s sentencing began on January 5, 2021, and he was sentenced to four to six years for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person from Douglas County. It has a tentative release date of August 15, 2023.
