In New York, a suspect has been detained in the brutal beating of the 90-year-old owner of the confectionery Ray’s Candy Store.

Police say a Manhattan man has been arrested for brutally beating the beloved 90-year-old owner of famed Ray’s Candy Store in the East Village.

Luis Perosa, 39, also from the East Village, was arrested and charged with assault on Friday in connection with the perverted assault.

Ray Alvarez was left with a black eye and broken bones in his face in a shocking attack.

The brave victim returned to work the next day but ended up requiring medical attention, checking himself Thursday night at Beth Israel Hospital, where doctors treated him for extensive injuries.

Alvarez, who also had a dislocated jaw and can only eat through a straw, protested that the beating would never have happened if more police were patrolling the area.

“I have three broken bones, one is here [the side of his face]one in the cheek, one in the eye, my jaw is dislocated,” Alvarez said after the beating.

When Alvarez asked what was inside the box, Luis Perosa allegedly handed it over to another person and threatened to kill Alvarez, police said.

He was accidentally attacked by a stranger at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, who asked him if he wanted to buy a package he was carrying, police said.

“They had soda. They wanted to sell it to me. I said “No. One hit me in the head and chest. one-handed [the soda] to another guy: “Wait, I’m going to kill this guy,” Alvarez recalled on Thursday, adding, “I couldn’t believe it.”

“There is a lot of crime here because there are not enough police. We used to have a police foot patrol that went back and forth. Enough,” Alvarez added.

“Today we informed Ray that we have identified and apprehended the perpetrator responsible for this heinous crime. Special thanks to the Warrants Department, the 9th Detective Squad, and the Intelligence Department of the 9th Precinct. tweeted on saturday.

Perose’s arraignment was expected.
