LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska) – Two men have been arrested following an ongoing narcotics investigation, which escalated into a foot chase Thursday night.

It all started around North 25th and U Streets at 11:40pm

Police say the man whose home they were guarding left in a vehicle and officers followed.

We’re told they tried to stop him after he committed an infraction, but he ran off.

The officers went home and waited for the man to return, which he did shortly after.

Police told us the driver, who was later identified as Patrick Carey, 37, took off running alongside his passenger, Jared Mutchie, 34.

But officers caught up with both of them and took them into custody.

Carey was carrying a 10mm Glock pistol, 12.8 grams of suspect meth and $1,317 in cash.

Officers found an additional 198.8 grams of suspicious methamphetamine at his home.
