Hundreds of Bennington local residents came out for an open house and pancake breakfast fundraiser at the fire and rescue department’s main station
BENNINGTON, Nebraska – Bennington is one of the fastest-growing cities in Douglas County, and the same is true of Bennington Suburban Fire District #7.
Several hundred residents attended a pancake breakfast and open house fundraiser at the fire department’s main station.
A year has passed since the department made the transition to full-time employees, and they will continue to add volunteer trainers in the near future.
Benefiting from the open house is the Bennington Firefighters Memorial Foundation.
Bennington Fire & Rescue Chief Dan Mallory stated, “They’re there to support the families if a firefighter is hurt or injured on the job, or if they come into touch with a terrible sickness.”
Bennington’s high school cadet program and college scholarship program are also supported by the memorial foundation.
