House explosion in Wapello County residence injured local resident, report

CHILLICOTHE, Iowa  – Tuesday, a house explosion in Wapello County injured a man.

According to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in the 300 block of High Street in Chillicothe at midday.

An photograph published by the sheriff’s office reveals that the explosion caused the house to partially collapse.

The injured man was flown to the hospital by helicopter. Officials have not disclosed the man’s identity or current health.

The explosion’s cause is still under investigation.
