Gunfight near Bronx Hall kills one, wounds another: cops

Police said a man was killed in a shootout that left a second man wounded outside a banquet hall in the Bronx early Sunday morning.

A group of people were standing in front of Casa Bella Hall on East 187th Street on Hughes Avenue when, around 1:50 a.m., someone opened fire on the crowd, police said.

A 21-year-old man was shot twice in the chest, and a 22-year-old man once in the buttock.

Both of them ran as far as 2371 Hughes Avenue before collapsing, police said.

They were rushed to the hospital of St. Barnabas, but the young man could not be saved.

The elderly man was in a stable condition.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, police said.

The deceased had no previous arrests.

According to police sources, the wounded man had a criminal record for illegal possession of weapons.
