GRAPEVINE, Texas – A child from Grapevine is being investigated on suspicion of sexually assaulting an elementary school student.
In a statement issued on Thursday, police said they were investigating a claim of a child being sexually abused by another student at Silver Lake Elementary School, a K-5 campus with approximately 550 students.
The police did not disclose any other details regarding the complaint, including the ages or grades of the pupils involved. In addition, they have not disclosed any information regarding the location of the alleged assault.
“We urged the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District to restrict information in order to protect both the family and the investigation. We want parents and our community to know that we are collaborating with the family to collect all pertinent information and ensure that they will continue to get support services “police stated in a statement.
Police stated that they are also collaborating closely with school officials to ensure the protection of pupils and identify suspects.
The investigators recommend that parents “have age-appropriate conversations with their children about safety and monitor for symptoms of probable abuse, such as a youngster who suddenly acts out or has significant mood changes.”
Anyone who feels that their child has been abused is asked to contact the Grapevine Police Department immediately at 817-410-8127 or by dialing 911.
