Grapevine authorities investigating after an elementary school student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a child
GRAPEVINE, Texas – The Grapevine police are investigating a claim that an elementary school student was sexually molested by another student.
The alleged sexual assault occurred on September 19 at the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District’s Silver Lake Elementary School.
Police have revealed few details, citing efforts to “protect the family and the inquiry.”
The news has agitated the community.
Daniel Little, a neighbor of the school, stated, “If you send your children to this school, you want to know and be absolutely assured that your children are not only receiving the best education, but are also safe.”
Thursday morning, GCISD sent an email to parents informing them of the event and stating, in part, “Police have initiated an ongoing investigation, and we are completely cooperating with them.”
Grapevine PD victim services advocate Makayla Moore wants parents to understand why several days passed between the alleged event and its public disclosure.
“We recognize that children reveal in their own time and in their own words, and that it may take multiple conversations to understand what occurred,” she said. We wish to prevent re-traumatizing a child as much as possible.
If you believe your child may be a victim, please contact the Grapevine police at 817-410-8127.
The Victim Services Advocate of the Grapevine PD is also available. She can be reached by calling 817-410-3491 or by emailing [email protected]
