Grand Island man files plea for sexual harassment

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska (Nebraska) — A Grand Island man initially accused of sexually abusing two teenage girls has been convicted on a lesser charge.

Aidan Jaeger, 19, was convicted Wednesday of attempted first-degree sexual assault. He is due to be sentenced in May.

He was charged with first-degree sexual assault in a case in which a 16-year-old girl alleged that he raped her last March. He was also charged with first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault in the case of another victim who alleged that he repeatedly raped her over a year and a half.

State officials will conduct a preliminary investigation before Jaeger’s sentencing on May 8. Court records show that prosecutors will not object to Jaeger’s conditional release if a preliminary investigation confirms it. The maximum penalty for attempted sexual assault in the first degree is 20 years in prison.
