Grand Island man arrested for alleged brutal domestic assault
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (Nebraska) – A Grand Island man has been arrested in what police are calling a brutal domestic assault.
On Sunday, Grand Island Police responded to CHI Health St. Francis about a domestic assault complaint in which police made contact with a 49-year-old woman with a broken tibia and fibula.
The victim informed police she was involved in a verbal altercation Anwar Gabir, 35, of Grand Island, in an apartment in the 900 block of Poplar St.
The victim told police that Gabir had kicked down hard on the shin causing the damage.
Grand Island Police said the victim’s leg was visibly deformed and staff said she needed immediate surgery.
Gabir was arrested for first degree domestic assault.
