YouTube has begun testing a new feature called Smart Downloads, which runs on an app designed for Android devices.
Smart Downloads works by downloading 20 clips each week based on user preferences and does so when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The goal is to reduce mobile data consumption when the user is on the go and watching their favorite clips.
The new feature is only available to Premium users in Europe and is activated in Settings. Those who want to try it should register by February 14, and the application will display a notification if the user lacks space on the device for downloading videos.
All clips will be displayed on the Library tab with the other downloaded clips.
