Goodwill to host the fifth annual Electronics Recycling Drive on Saturday in Lincoln in partnership with Dell Reconnect

Lincoln, NE – The fifth annual Electronics Recycling Drive is set to take place on Saturday, Jan. 8, and everyone who want might bring their old electronic devices for recycling.

The event will be hosted by Goodwill and will take place in front of its Vine Street store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is part of the National Technology Day and everyone is encouraged to take place at the free event with brining their old electronic devices they don’t longer use and need. That way, everyone can contribute in lowering the electronic waste which is slowly becoming one of the major problems we face globally.

“Our goal is to make donating a much easier, environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away used electronics,” said Alana Sesow, Goodwill’s Donations Acquisition Specialist. “We’re always happy to keep items out of the landfill.”

According to Goodwill, this year’s event is organized in partnership with Dell Reconnect. Everyone is asked to bring their electronic devices as everything will be accepted regardless of the brand and condition.

Working electronics will be sold in Goodwill’s thrift stores, where the revenue funds local programs that help job seekers overcome traditional barriers to employment. Nonworking electronics will be refurbished or recycled. In 2020 alone, Lincoln Goodwill diverted 61,630 pounds of electronics from the local landfill, and they hope to recycle even more for years to come.

Goodwill added that they accept every kind of electronic device except TV’s and microwaves. Those who want, but are not able to attend for some reason can bring their old electronic devices to any Lincoln or York Goodwill location year-round during designated donation hours.
