Athens – The Greek Prime Minister sent the last call to senior citizens to be vaccinated before the monthly fines for violating the vaccination mandate next week.
“Our fellow citizens over the age of 60 and still unvaccinated – I encourage them today: take this step,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Saturday during a visit to a health center in Megara, near Athens.
“Protect your life and the lives of those you love and understand that the vaccine is safe and saves lives.”
Citizens over the age of 60 will be fined 50 euros from Monday and 100 euros every month from February, unless they are vaccinated. All the income will be intended for the country’s health system, Greek media reported, RT reports.
Those who have certificates of recovery from Covid-19 and proven medical exemptions will not be subject to penalties. People vaccinated abroad will be able to register their vaccinations through the government website.
