Friday night shooting in Liberty City fatal for elderly woman, police
Liberty City, Florida – The shooting death of an 85-year-old woman occurred on Friday night in Liberty City, according to the police.
The Miami Police Department arrived on the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. to the vicinity of Northwest 10th Avenue and 52nd Street, where they located the woman who had been shot and was in need of medical attention.
She was transported by paramedics to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but it was there that authorities say she succumbed to her injuries and died.
The identify of the woman or any information about a suspect has not been made public by the police.
An inquiry was being conducted to determine what led up to the incident.
Note from the editor: Initially, Miami Police stated that the woman was 89 years old; however, family members have since confirmed that she was 85.
