Former Nebraska State Police Officer Sentenced to Jail for Child Sexual Abuse

BELLEVUE, Nebraska (Nebraska) — The former Nebraska State Trooper will spend decades behind bars.

Brandon Dolezal, 25, was sentenced Monday by a Sarpi County court to 20 to 40 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl, Sarpi County officials said.

Dolezal, a former Nebraska State Trooper, was arrested in July 2022 and has not contested the charges. He will receive a 64-day credit for the time already served.

Dolezal was only three months out of the academy when he was first charged.

The Chief Deputy Attorney for Sarpi County thanked the victim for being able to come forward.

“It would not have been possible to prosecute this case without the courage of the victim and without the Nebraska Attorney General’s investigation,” said Bonnie Moore, Chief Deputy Attorney for Sarpy County. “Dolezal is a predator, and this sentence reflects his behavioral patterns and likelihood of reoffending.”

Dolezal is also awaiting sentencing April 3 in Scotts Bluff County on two counts of attempted child abuse and four counts of possession of child pornography. In addition, Dolezal faces other charges in Douglas County, including six counts of child sexual abuse in the first degree. A preliminary hearing in the sexual harassment case has been scheduled for April 13.
