Five Long Beach residents, believed to be involved in last year murder, arrested and charged

LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department conducted a multi-day operation on August 31, 2022, which led to the arrests of three individuals in connection with the April 26, 2021 murder inquiry of Christopher Cordova, a 27-year-old South Gate resident.

Detectives assigned to the Homicide Detail and the Special Investigations Division have been conducting a comprehensive investigation, collecting evidence, and following up on investigative leads for several months. Through their investigation, Homicide detectives identified and arrested the following individuals in connection with the murder:

Christopher Deckard, a 37-year-old Arcadia resident, was already detained for an unrelated incident when he was charged with one count of murder. The amount of bail is $2,000,000.
Richard Granados, a 38-year-old Norwalk resident, was already detained for an unrelated incident when he was charged with one count of murder. The amount of bail is $2,000,000.
Miguel Gallardo, a 29-year-old inhabitant of the city of Lynwood, was charged on one count of murder on September 1, 2022, in the city of Los Angeles. The bail amount was set at $2,000.
Yessica Hernandez, a 33-year-old Anaheim resident, was arrested in the city of Los Angeles on September 1, 2022 and charged with one count of accessory to murder. The bail was set at $1,000,000 dollars.
Tatiana Pinon, a 24-year-old Norwalk resident, was arrested and charged with one count of accessory to murder on September 13, 2022 in Norwalk. The bail was set at $1,000,000 dollars.

While the investigation is still active and ongoing, authorities believe the motive is gang-related at this point.

At approximately 9:55 a.m. on April 26, 2021, officers from the Long Beach Police Department rushed to assist the Long Beach Harbor Patrol, who had discovered a body floating in the sea near the 1100 Block of Pier F in the Long Beach Harbor.

The preliminary inquiry found that the decaying corpse was discovered floating along the water’s edge. At this moment, the cause of the injury to the deceased’s upper body remains unknown.

Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, homicide detectives were dispatched, and the case is being probed as a murder.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office came to the site, took custody of the body, and will determine the cause of death, identify the person, and notify next of kin.
