Early childhood conference to focus on the principles of positive behavior

The 34th Annual Children Are Our Business Norfolk Early Childhood Conference will be held on Saturday 25th March from 8am-3pm at the Divots Event Center in Norfolk.

“It’s really a great opportunity for early childhood professionals,” said Erin Kampbell, early childhood extension educator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Madison County. “They can interact with each other and share some of their own experiences, their own insights and at the same time get insights from a very experienced national speaker.”

The conference will feature speaker Dan St. Romain, a national education consultant who provides staff development and advisory services for educators.

According to a press release about the conference, St. Romain will speak on principles of behavior.

“Although children’s behaviors have changed a lot in recent decades,” the press release says, “our strategies to support these behaviors have not. By examining the information we’ve learned about the brain, we’re in a better position to design effective interventions. In this fast-paced and highly interactive conference, attendees will learn nine principles for positively shaping children’s behavior that we serve at all levels of development.

“We have a high-quality speaker this year,” Kampbell said. “We’re really excited about Dan St. Romain.”

Kampbell also said vendors will be at the conference for attendees to interact during breaks, and noted that the conference is a great opportunity for early childhood professionals to network with each other.

Interested parties can register for the conference at go.unl.edu/norfolk-conf-2023. Entries are accepted until Friday 17 March. Registration includes training, refreshments and lunch. No walk-ins will be accepted and no refunds will be given.
