Driver killed in 18-wheeler crash on US-75 on Tuesday in Collin County, owner company seeks community help

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas – The transportation business that owned the 18-wheeler that toppled over a concrete barrier on US-75 on Tuesday, killing the driver, is searching for dashcam footage of the accident that may have caused the tractor-trailer to careen onto the road below.

Gusatvo Gomez, age 71, had worked with Bancroft and Sons transportation for more than two decades.

J.D. Bancroft issued a statement on Thursday requesting that anybody having footage of the accident email it to the firm or Allen police.

“The driver’s family stated that it might not bring him back, but it could provide closure and clarity to the accident inquiry,” Bancroft added.

Bancroft described Gomez as a devoted and committed employee with a safe driving record for the organization.

Tuesday, the tractor-trailer driven by Gomez slid over the concrete guardrail on US-75 near Stacy Road at the Allen-Fairview boundary.

Allen police said that the 18-wheeler veered off the right side of the overpass after colliding with another vehicle while traveling north on Route 75.

According to Allen police, the second vehicle’s driver was not wounded. They have not indicated whether or not charges are anticipated.
