Dallas teenager was shot multiple times to death on Sunday at the corner of Al Lipscomb Way and Meyers Street in South Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – A tiny memorial has been erected in the middle of an empty lot in South Dallas to honor the spot where Manuel Sterling Edwards, 14, was murdered early on Sunday morning.

Edwards was shot many times at the corner of Al Lipscomb Way and Meyers Street in South Dallas, across from an apartment complex and a church.

Monday at the scene, Dallas homicide investigator Patty Belew stated, “We are doing our best to determine what led to his death and who is accountable for it.” I spent all of yesterday searching for video and seeing what I could find, and I was fortunate to find some.

“I simply seek justice for my son. I have no idea who or what happened “stated Cynthia Edwards, Manuel’s mother.

Edwards referred to Manuel as her “miracle baby,” stating that she nearly lost her son after delivery.

The Edwards family resides less than one city block from the scene of Manuel’s murder. His mother believes he was present at the moment of the incident.

At this time, no community members have come forward with information.

“If anyone has witnessed something, please speak out. Call me, “begged Edwards. “I won’t even mention your name, you may remain anonymous, and I’ll give the detective all the facts.”

The Dallas police department believes there are individuals with knowledge of the shooting. Crimestoppers offers a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

Detective Belew stated, “There are many people who know what happened to this young man, and I’m hoping they will come forward to tell me.” It upsets me greatly that these children are so young and losing their lives so early for no good reason.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Belew at (214) 422-9275.
