Crops in Carson, Iowa, heavily damaged after the area was hit by severe, Ping pong ball-sized hail
CARSON, Iowa — A portion of Pottawattamie County is still struggling with the aftermath of weekend hailstorms.
Caitlin Connell, a meteorologist, traveled to Carson and Oakland on Monday and discovered agricultural and tree damage.
It adds to the difficulties of a dry summer, and farmers will soon begin harvesting.
She met with residents of Oakland who sought refuge from tennis ball-sized hail. This is around an inch and a half in diameter.
This same storm delivered hail of much greater size. There were reports of hail up to three and a half inches in diameter! This is around the diameter of a huge apple.
