County Honors Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes More Than 1,000 Miles From Home
KANSAS CITY, MO (KMBC) — Linebacker Patrick Mahomes may play for the Kansas City Chiefs, but a thousand-mile street now bears his name.
Mahomes calls Arrowhead Stadium home, but now in South Jordan, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City officially approved by Mahomes Lane County.
Developer Cameron Jackson is responsible for the name of the street.
“Actually, when I was working, I was watching the game and I thought, ‘Oh, why don’t I name a street after Patrick Mahomes? It will be fun,” Jackson said.
To Jackson’s knowledge, this is the first county-approved street named after an MVP quarterback.
Ironically, South Jordan is home to many fans of the Broncos and Raiders, direct rivals to the Chiefs.
Regardless of this, the city already has a Kielce street.
“If I put two streets next to each other and we had an intersection from Mahomes to Kelce, that would be perfect,” Jackson said.
Jalen Hurts of the Mahomes and Eagles will become the first black quarterback in history to fight in this year’s Super Bowl.
